Method of  Music  Education

Ultimately, I want to install a sense of enjoyment for music as well as the fundamentals through my methods of teaching. Thus, for the first half of class, I will focus on teaching them the intermediate rudiments according to the RCM standard. Then, for the latter half of the class we will focus on the practical music. In order to this, I will divide up the class in various ensembles consisting of two or three players. I will assign all the groups the same piece and help them develop their skill set by instructing the entire class. Then, I will allow each ensemble to practice individually during which I will go around the class and evaluate each ensemble group. By doing this, I will help develop their teamwork as they will need to coordinate with each other as well as help them in their unique trouble spots. By doing this, the students are also able to find the happiness when they develop that perfect balance of each instrument as they work on their ensemble pieces together. Furthermore, I will also coordinate with the Toronto Academy Wind Orchestra to provide experience with band music and make these students a part of this orchestra as well as encourage students to participate in various competitions available. Additionally, I will also encourage RCM testing.
