CHAS offers a relaxed performance on the first Saturday of the run for each of the four in-house productions at the Canadian College of Performing Arts. These are sensory-friendly matinees, adapted to ensure a safe and supportive environment for those who might struggle in a traditional theatre setting. Relaxed performances feature amended lighting and sound levels, flexible seating, the ability to move around and make noise, enhanced lighting in lobby areas, and quiet areas if audience need a break. The cast will introduce the performance, characters and what can be expected from the show.
Relaxed performances can benefit:
Individuals with sensory sensitivities
Autistic or other neurodiverse patrons
Those with physical disabilities, such as epilepsy that can be triggers by stimuli
People with learning differences
Caregivers*, or families with young children
Or anyone who, regardless of reason, could benefit from a more relaxed theatre experience
Offering relaxed performances makes live theatre accessible for those who find traditional performances overwhelming.

For high school students interested in exploring the performing arts, CCPA offers workshops and Spend-A-Day experiences that will often include attendance at a dress rehearsal or performance. See CCPA Key Engagement Dates for more information.
In April, CHAS hosts a Student Matinee for the annual Year-End Musical presented at the McPherson Playhouse in downtown Victoria. This morning performance, typically on the Friday of the second week of the run, welcomes elementary and secondary students from across south Vancouver Island, and their teacher chaperones, for a free or heavily-discounted performance.
